He has informed me that he's currently being considered for a position with you and that you're looking for references/letters of recommendation from friends, etc., so that's what I'm doing. I originally met David via the IRC in 1994 and have been good friends and "associates" ever since. Due to the fact that I live in Minneapolis, MN, we've maintained regular contact through both the IRC and E-mail, but have not actually met in person. However, that fact alone just adds to the confidence I feel in recommending him for the position for which he's being considered. I'll explain why. In the time I've known David, we've worked together on a panel of 13 administrators for an IRC channel and jointly maintain a mailing list comprised of 200+ subscribers (at present). Some of the things required of us as administrators on the IRC channel were: settling of disputes, democratically establishing rules and regulations for the channel via voting between channel admins, teaching new users about the IRC, the channel, the channel's subject matter, etc. In addition to his duties as an administrator on the channel, he maintained a WWW page devoted to the channel, its members and channel subject matter. (This has since been passed on to several other people, to my knowledge) Things required of him as co-owner of our mailing list are: subscribing & unsubscribing people, assisting those who are having trouble in general with the list and/or commands used to interface with the list manager, updating mailing list information & files, basic mailing list configuration, re-direction of wrongly addressed mail, etc. That should give you at least a little bit of background as to what a few of his diverse skills and areas of experience are. Not only do I have complete confidence in his ability to work in a technical position, I can honestly say that his upbeat personality, genuine desire to help others and make them understand, topped with his aptitude to quickly learn what he doesn't already know, makes him an asset to any organization he's a part of. If you have any questions, or would like any other information regarding Mr. Milner, please feel free to contact me at this address or voice at (612) 381-1052. (E-mail is a better bet, though, as I'm rather busy and tough to get ahold of as a result) Sincerely, Jamie Novak _.,-*'^'~*-,._.,-*'^'~*-,._.,-*'^'~*-,._.,-*'^'~*-,._.,-*'^'~*-,._ Jamie Novak A.K.A.
